The man responsible for the greatest moment in the Shield's short history. 12th May 2012, the date. The 166 yard Par 3 17th, the scene. A quick swing of a 6 iron was met with a nod of approval and a nonchalant stroll to the bag with the ball in mid-flight. Preparing himself for a birdie putt and the collection of some pound coins from his playing partners, the ball disappeared from sight. It hadn't, had it? A brisk walk, broke into a jog, then a sprint as he hurriedly reached the green to confirm what we had all been thinking. The big bastard had holed it. Now, he's a modest big fella, rarely mentions it and kept it all very composed and celebrations low key. But only to ensure he avoided the bar bill in the 19th.
